Need in the garden of the family is now more than ever before. It seems that in a hurry of modern life that many are beginning to feel something is missing. The more we run, the deeper the aching grows. Despite all the incredible benefits of our time saving devices and software, we find that we are busy as ever, and despite the long hours of focused work, we feel that we are small that the value of contributing.
In many cases, our children are discontent and feel that something is owed to them. They are looking for fun through video games and self-esteem through sports, training classes or other interests. Nevertheless, it seems that there is a general feeling that this is not enough. Those who are motivated to seek higher and higher levels of achievement so far, until they finally arrive, which we had hoped that they would all together, good job with good benefits, making a descent salary. And yet, when all is said and done, they are in the same boat – the feeling that something is missing – the feeling that they are making that has little value.
Over the years, I pondered over this dilemma, as I watched him play myself and those that I love. The question is: With all our savings in time, value, pleasure, self-esteem building programs and technologies that we may be absent, leaving us both a sense of inner worth?
I do not claim a blanket solution to this modern mystery, but I otrisuet comparison that I think will shed light on one aspect of it.
One hundred and fifty years ago, our great, great grandparents came early in the morning to go out and put his hands on the ground. Their job woes in direct contact with the soil and the fruits of their labors was the basic building blocks of life. As children, sitting at the table and looked at the home-cooked meals, they saw, potatoes, carrots, yams and tomatoes, which they planted, nourished and carefully harvested. Wheat for bread from last years crop and meat from the cow, they had raised since it was a calf. Children considered necessary, because they were needed.
Today, most of us run through our busy days with virtually no contact with the soil, which gives us life. In fact, we need to wash their hands with antibacterial soap, just in case, if we can come into contact with their native land. We sit at our tables, provided that we do not take the time to sit and look at the processed food that is grown in human beings, we do not know. After completion of our meal, we hurried to rush off to slay our dragons – to make and sell more things that people do not necessarily (at least in the internal sense of the word) so that we can pay our oversized houses and all the technology, that holds it all happens. But not before we send our children to school with words of encouragement, if they work hard and learn all they can, someday they will be just like us.
Put this way, it seems a bit cynical, but I’m not a cynic. I believe that we can change our direction, so that will fill the gaps left by our modern society. We must put our hands in the soil and our children should feel the joy of giving something of a built-in cost to their families. I know not the best way to do it than the family garden. If you tell people, garden, they will tell you that he is healing. Participating in the process of growing their own food, we can find that we have more food than our bodies, but our whole soul too.
